A note about the future of jimmy’s Bodega

We always knew that the Bodega in it’s Wagner Park location had a limited lifespan, as the owner of the building has always had plans to redevelop the property. The time has come. It has became apparent that his plans will probably become a reality in the spring of 2019. Without the summer season, the Bodega is not a sustainable concept to operate during the winter. It is too small (half the size of the summer with the patio) and the mixed fine dining seafood menu is too expensive to produce.

Our decision is to not reopen the Bodega for winter 2018-19. We are moving our key kitchen staff upstairs to Jimmy’s along with the raw bar and a host of other Bodega favorites. We will be incorporating the Bodega concept into Jimmy’s. Our seafood-driven Bodega menu and the modified steakhouse Jimmy’s menu complement each other well and we believe the new menu will be enthusiastically received. We will be launching the revamped menu on Dec. 6, 2018.

We will be maintaining control of the Bodega space and opening a new concept on December 10th: Hao House: Far East Street Food. On our recent trip to Taiwan, our good friend and chef David Wang (a.k.a., the Ramen Monster) joined us for a week where we were able to get to know each other even better. Upon returning home and, after coming to conclusion that the Bodega was not sustainable, we spoke to David and formed a partnership for him, along with chef Kiyong Kim, to lead the kitchen and create a menu of Asian street food inspired by Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. Hao will maintain the exceptional cocktail program from Bodega/Jimmy's.

Another reason to create the pop up is that it is possible the owner will not get his permits in time and, in that case, we may be able to reopen Bodega for the lucrative summer season.

It is a very exciting time and we are looking forward to having fun with this winter pop up restaurant. As always, thank you so much for continued support.
